Step 5. How to improve your real estate website ranking with google
This is one of the main sections that people will tend to focus upon. I cannot stress how important it is to first do steps 1 through 4 before you consider spending a great deal of time on this page.
If you have not completed the previous steps, then this section will not be nearly as effective in helping to improve your real estate website ranking with google. I will outline the steps below and then you will notice there is a link for almost every step to more detailed information and explanation. The steps required are as follows.
Understanding that google uses a very complex mathematical equation to calculate the page rank of your site is the first step to improving your real estate website ranking with google. This equation, often called an algorithm, is the key to how google calculates your pagerank, read more about the google algorithm
Choosing the correct keywords for google and website optimization is one of the key ingredients to rank high in google. Many agents use overture to determine what keywords are being searched in their geographic area and then build pages around those keywords
Page meta tags, titles and file names - some utilize these methods and there is some evidence that google will give some weight to your site if you have optimized these methods
Backlinks are links from other real estate related websites to your site. These backlinks play an important role in your website pagerank and again, the google algorithm uses these backlinks or reciprocal links to your site in it's calculation of your overall page rank or importance
Create a site map for your real estate website so that google will index all the pages on your site
Target a variety of real estate related keywords in your pages and try to cover most of the important areas that people are searching for in your geographic or other target area
You may use RSS to improve your website ranking, google seems to like RSS feeds
You may start writing a real estate blog, similar to mine, and fill it with good content on a regular basis, this is a lot of work and I am not totally convinced that a blog gives your site much of a boost in google
Don't forget that you can use google adwords to instantly improve your website ranking near or at the top of the search engines and this method works for many new sites or sites where the agent cannot or will not take the time or make the effort to improve their real estate website rankings naturally , read more about google adwords
There is much more information to come, I have just started to build these pages.
